The Bombay Flying Club isn’t just a training ground, it’s the birthplace of Indian aviation itself. Established in 1928, we’ve played a pivotal role in shaping the nation’s aviation history.
JRD Tata, the Father of Indian Aviation: Trained at the Bombay Flying Club in 1929, becoming the first person to receive a pilot’s license in India.
Rabia Futehally, India’s First Woman Pilot: Earned her Private Pilot Licence from our esteemed institution, and today serves on our managing committee.
We hold the unique distinction of being the only flying club in the world to undertake a cross-country international flight from Bombay to London and back, using four Tiger Moth aircraft in the 1930s.
Innovation thrives here. Club member R. Levy indigenously built the “Monsoon” aircraft, which successfully flew for over 50 hours.
Another member, Rev. Father Constantine, pushed boundaries by becoming the first person to fly an illuminated aircraft at night for advertising purposes over Bombay.
The Bombay Flying Club, situated at the heart of Mumbai’s Juhu aerodrome, offers an unparalleled training experience. We go beyond just imparting skills; we provide a comfortable and focused environment that fosters theoretical and practical knowledge.
